Behind the Mic

Rebuilding in Public

Most dissertations are written behind closed doors.

Mine has a microphone.

Detox Beatbox isn't just a podcast. It's an ongoing investigation into how music, culture, relationships, and storytelling shape the way we learn to love, communicate, remember, and sometimes lose our voice.

Every time you press play, you're stepping into the investigation.

Every episode adds another page to the DISSHertation.

Every season follows the evidence.

Some answers come from song lyrics. Others come from psychology, relationship patterns, lived experience, history, and the stories we inherit from our families and our culture. My job isn't to prove a point. It's to ask better questions, follow the threads, and invite you to think alongside me.

I'm not studying music.

I'm studying what music teaches us.

Think of this page as my field notebook. It's where I pull back the curtain on the questions, frameworks, field notes, and connections that eventually become podcast episodes.

The Question I Can't Shake

At the center of this work is a question that refuses to leave me alone:

How do the stories we inherit, especially through music and culture, shape the way we love, speak, and understand ourselves?

And maybe an even bigger one...

What happens when we finally hear those stories differently?

Why Build in Public?

Because voice reclamation shouldn't happen in secret.

Instead of disappearing for years and resurfacing with a finished dissertation, I'm choosing to let you witness the process.

You'll hear ideas before they're fully formed.

You'll watch frameworks evolve.

You'll catch connections I almost missed.

Some theories will get stronger.

Some assumptions will get challenged.

Some episodes may even change my mind.

That's not a flaw in the process.

That IS the process.

More Than a Podcast

Think of every episode as a field note.

Every season as a chapter.

Every conversation as another piece of evidence.

And every listener as someone helping me investigate one of the questions that has shaped my own life:

How do we find our voice after years of learning to silence it?

You're Invited

Whether you're here because you love music, relationships, storytelling, psychology, or you're simply trying to make sense of your own story...

Plug in.

Press play.

Let's listen for what our voices have been trying to tell us all along.

Storytelling • Music • Culture • Voice Reclamation
